Jungian-oriented psychotherapy

The great Swiss psychologist Carl Gustav Jung considered that the point of life is to become who you truly are. He called this project "individuation", and he said that it is a life-long task that involves integrating all the different aspects of ourselves, including the ones we're ashamed of, or the ones we don't think we could even aspire to.
You may have heard of some aspects of Jung's work, if you have heard of archetypes, shadow, the collective unconscious, synchronicity, or active imagination.
Jung believed that therapy is about healing the soul, by following the wisdom of our own psyche, which will lead us where we need to go. Because of this, Jungians believe that symptoms and troubles reveal not only what's wrong, but also what we need to pay attention to in order to become more whole. So Jungian therapists work with dreams, images, and symbols to find out what the unconscious is saying--because it has wisdom. Jungian therapy is also grounded in the body, in somatic awareness, and in feeling.
Jungian therapy is long-term therapy, and if you're interested in really finding out who you are, it will fascinate you. Jungians work relationally and analytically, using transference and counter-transference to reveal the unconscious dynamics that are at work. Jungian therapy is like the greatest detective movie you ever saw, only you're the detective, tracking your self through the forest of your mind!
I have trained at the San Francisco Jung Institute, and at Pacifica Graduate Institute--a Jungian-oriented school. I've also completed advanced training in dreamwork, with Dr Stephen Aizenstat.
