Climate Grief
|
If you're feeling strong emotions about climate breakdown and ecological injustice, know that you're not alone. People are waking up to what's happening, and when they do, it's devastating. People feel grief, anger, fear, guilt, concern, powerlessness, and other strong feelings that can be hard to live with. It can help to talk about it to someone who understands--I feel it too. There are many things to discuss around climate emotions, not least how to live decently in this ongoing catastrophe--how not to give up, even in the face of despair. Because that's what humans do--we keep going. Even in situations of war, revolution, disaster, humans continue to fall in love, raise their kids, look after each other, make soup, plant seeds. Somehow, we summon the strength and ingenuity to continue. What we need now is imagination, community, and resilience. In therapy, I can help you process what you know and what you feel, so you can think about what to do about it, what to say to people around you who may or may not be on your wavelength, and what it could mean to have hope without rose-tinted glasses. So, if you're grappling with climate-related emotions, don't do it alone: call me. |
