Adult Children of Holocaust Survivors
Various aspects of my work converge in this area. Because I see many clients who want to work on issues around inherited and cultural trauma (including refugees, immigrants and exiles), I have found myself working with adult children of Holocaust survivors.
This might seem strange, since I am not Jewish myself. However, in Europe (and particularly in France, where I lived for many years) the legacy of the First and Second World Wars, and of the Nazi occupation, is enormous. The trauma of the World Wars has certainly reverberated down the generations of my own family, and the enormity of the Holocaust has always been present to me.
For many years, I felt that I should not work in this area as a non-Jew. However, it kept returning to me. Finally I decided to seek counsel with a rabbi, who said she thought that in some indefinable way, it felt like a small piece of cosmic justice for a non-Jew to give support to people struggling with the trauma of the Holocaust.
I would be honoured to work with you on healing around this terrible legacy.
